Certain objectives, inputs, and parameters varied across these collaborative beer label projects. But I always kept one goal in mind: tell an interesting visual story.
OVERVIEW
Crafting visual identities for unique collaborations.
Begyle Brewing collaborated with Timber Lanes—a local, analog bowling alley—on a custom flagship beer.
In my illustration, I paid homage to the bowling alley's retro aesthetic with lots of beige, wood accents, and vintage typography.
LANE 8
This second collaboration with Timber Lanes added a seasonally appropriate Begyle beer to their summer lineup.
I stuck with the style and tone of our first collaboration but switched the subject matter to bowling shoes to fit the name of the new beer.
BOWLING SHOES
A collaboration that took a lot of planning and creative thinking. Bottles & Cans, a local bottle shop, invited Begyle Brewing to create a one-off beer for their yearly beer advent calendar.
The chess theme and name commemorate the comical amount of planning that had to happen for this beer to exist. The red and green color palette—along with the reindeer knight and snowflakes—emphasize the season that was the reason for collaboration.
STRATEGERY
Begyle Brewing partnered with Gene's Sausage Shop to create a summer flagship beer for Gene’s rooftop patio and Biergarten.
I opted for Renaissance-style European engraving with modern typography and color to tie into Gene’s German tradition and the Kölsch heritage. I incorporated illustrations of hops, bees, and grain to evoke a lush, seasonal summer vibe.
